Underwater UFO Stories
While UFOs are well known as the main signs of alien contact, lesser known but just as frequently seen are USOs, or unidentified submerged objects. Much of the ocean is still unknown and unmapped by humanity, and many people have reported seeing strange objects fly into it or maneuver underneath the water's surface. Many have speculated that, if there are aliens currently on Earth, they are using the floor of the sea as the location for their launching bases.
One of the most famous USO incidents is the 1967 Shag Harbor incident in Canada. A resident of the small community, Laurie Wickens, was out with her friends on a walk when they suddenly saw a large object drop into the water, lit by amber lights. Peering off the coast they could see the object floating a few hundred meters away from the coast. Wickens reported the crash, as did many other local residents who had heard odd noises right before it. When investigators arrived at the scene, the craft was gone, but there were traces left in the form of yellow bubbles on the surface of the water and a strong smell of sulfur. Some reports add that another craft followed to 'aid' the first or that the craft was later seen making its way out to open sea, but these elements are less confirmed.
Another incident was still more spectacular, and was witnessed by members of the US Navy. On a submarine trip in 1966, the crew of the USS Tiru witnessed a strange craft. The first to see it was the lookout, who saw it rise from the waves into the clouds. He then called the others over, refusing to say what he had seen until the craft plunged back into the sea with a spectacular eruption of water. The craft was roughly the size of a football field, if not larger, and shaped like a saucer with an inverted bowl in the middle. In addition, in its presence sonar apparently reported very odd echoes. It rose and plunged a few more times before disappearing for good, and the captain declared the event classified. The event was mostly reported on by William Cooper, who admittedly took to some deeper conspiracies later in life, but during his time in the Navy he became an officer and was by all accounts reliable.
Many other sightings have been reported, ranging from radar signals that moved to depths no submarine of the time could reach to glowing lights moving just under the water to UFOs emerging from below the sea. Whether this is evidence of alien bases or not is unknown, but at the least it raises many questions - for example, some UFO researchers now speculate that UFOs are not evidence of aliens but instead evidence of another species sharing our planet, a species that resides mostly underwater. The oceans are vast and full of many mysteries even now, and some of the secrets hidden in them may well match those hidden in space.
