Serial Killer: The Boston Strangler

The Boston Strangler was a title attributed to a mysterious amount of murders of which many were attributed to Albert DeSalvo, however, forensics states that all of the murderers cannot be linked to DeSalvo, therefore that it is thought that the Boston strangler is a group of individuals. A total of 13 known murder cases were represented in the trial, all of which were women. The women ranged in ages, the youngest being just 19, and the oldest being 85. Most of the women killed during the 1960's by the acclaimed Boston Strangler, were also either sexually assaulted or molested. The murders are often sought to be classified into two different stages, the first stage of murders occurring all in 1962 consisted of a total of six known murders. As for the second stage of murders occurring between 1962 to 1964 accounted for a total of the remaining 7 known murders.

Murders mostly took place in the Boston area, generally focusing on women who believed that the individual coming and knocking on the door was either a maintenance person, or another service man, not the Boston strangler, therefore allowing the individual to enter the premise without any difficulty. However, one lucky woman in the Boston area was fortunately not killed, and immediately called the police with a solid description of the killer. The killer was described and looked rather identical to Albert DeSalvo, although DeSalvo does admit to his crimes, it is still a mystery as to how all the murders took place, as forensics point that some of the cases had to be other people. In 1973, after being sent to a maximum security state prison in Walpole, he was found stabbed to death, as the killers were never identified.
